Two Multiple Automated Teller Safe systems to be installed after successful pilot programs
Wincor Nixdorf Continues Rollout of ATS Technology with Two Significant Deployments
AUSTIN, Texas, November 28, 2007 – Wincor Nixdorf, one of the world’s leading suppliers of total IT solutions for the banking and retail industries, has finalized two significant rollouts of its Automated Teller Safe systems (ATS) through the company’s top selling independent dealer, Ellsworth Systems. ATS technology virtually eliminates the need for a conventional teller drawer and significantly increases bank efficiency.

After successful pilot testing, Huntsville, Ala.-based Redstone Federal Credit Union will deploy 14 of Wincor Nixdorf’s Pro Cash 6000 ATS units while Advance Financial, with branches located throughout the Middle Tennessee area, will deploy 10.  Ellsworth Systems, a leading Wincor Nixdorf independent sales partner, completed both agreements.  Since partnering in 2006, Ellsworth Systems has played a key role in Wincor Nixdorf’s aggressive U.S. growth.

Because Wincor Nixdorf’s ATS system is capable of serving as a cash vault that resides right at the teller window, Redstone Federal Credit Union tellers and vault personnel have saved between 1.5 and two hours each day by eliminating tedious, conventional processing of cash transactions between the teller drawer and the bank vault.  Use of the ATS system is now standard procedure at all of Redstone Federal Credit Union’s 19 full-service branches throughout Alabama.

Advance Financial saw similar results in its pilot tests, and has also relied on the ATS to resolve cash security issues at the teller window, since all deposited cash resides securely in the system’s built-in safe system.  Since its founding in 1996, Advance Financial has grown to 17 branches throughout Middle Tennessee, with three additional locations scheduled to open soon.

Redstone Federal Credit Union is also currently testing Wincor Nixdorf’s bulk check deposit ATM, the first and only available technology to allow consumers to deposit up to 50 checks or notes at once without an envelope.

About Automated Teller Safes

Wincor Nixdorf’s Automated Teller Safes (ATS) are capable of electronically processing any cash deposit or withdrawal, which comprise 60 to 80 percent of bank transactions today.

When a teller inserts a cash deposit into the ATS, its advanced imaging technology allows it to instantaneously verify the authenticity of each note, and then denominate the bills and confirm the total deposit amount in seconds, while conventional cash handling practices require notes to be counted up to six times as they move from vault to teller to customer.  After being deposited, the notes resides securely within the safe and can be later dispensed as a cash withdrawal, creating a cash recycling system which eliminates the need for a conventional cash drawer, reduces the amount of cash necessary by up to 25 percent and drastically reduces the time-consuming post processing of deposit transactions after business hours each day.

All withdrawals and transactions processed by Wincor Nixdorf’s ATS are done so at an infinitesimal rate of error, because of a series of electronic checks and balances within the machine.  For example, should the machine come across two notes stuck together, the machine’s sensors will reject the stack, shut down, and attempt the transaction again.

The ATS also plays a significant role in branch management, as its accompanying software is capable of producing detailed reports indicating cash withdrawals or deposits by time of day, denomination, and other key indicators.  This allows bank managers to better predict the amount of cash needed at any given time of day, reducing delays and increasing customer loyalty and satisfaction.  Wincor Nixdorf’s software is capable of integrating with any existing bank system in the U.S., making it the only of its kind.

Additionally, because all of the cash handled at the teller window resides within Wincor Nixdorf’s ATS, the need for expensive security measures such as reinforced glass and other bullet-proofing is eliminated, greatly increasing security while reducing overhead costs for the bank.
