When—and how—can a bank be like a brontosaurus?

For most of us, the internet, email and Wi-Fi have become important features of our everyday lives. Home or office, Blackberry or iPhone, in today’s 21st century context, web-based communications have truly replaced the microwave as technology that we can’t live without! But there is a gap in the grid, however, or least in our assumption that the infrastructure is there to support our mobile and virtual lifestyle.

Community bank compliance officers rank Truth in Lending Act compliance, and compliance with the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act as their top priorities for the next 12 months, according to a survey conducted by Wolters Kluwer Financial Services. Indications are that this in part is because of a renewed push on home lending by 42% of the institutions represented by survey respondents.
