Can you caption this photo?
Ever had a fellow employee at the bank that was hard to get
close to? Hard to get along with? Or who was always trying to stick it to you?
Well, this zoo keeper at Pennsylvania's Claws And Paws Wild
Animal Park was kind enough to show off "Marsha," an African Crested
Porcupine for our photographer. Contrary to legend, porcupines do not shoot
their quills. This variety tends to burrow, and should any predator attempt to
follow it underground, it gets a nasty noseful.
Funny story about "Marsha." When she was born, she was
examined and pronounced a male. So she was called "Marshall," and put in with
the other porkies.
Well, somewhere along the way, "Marshall" had little
porcupines. (Zoo Chief Vince Hall tells us that porcupines are notoriously hard
to type--and assures that little ones are born with soft quills.)
"Marshall" became "Marsha."
Enough zoology.
